Fashion illustration dreams

I like fashion illustration, althought I'm not sure if I would call it art. It's not very far away from commercials on tv. But we like to watch a catchy commercials, don't we? I always wanted to have such a talent for drawing just to draw costumes and models. When I was little girl I loved to do designs on a piece of paper, make catalogues full of clothes and cosmetics and also the collages from cut pieces of beauty magazines. Then I tried to turn good fashion photos into drawings, I thought that it's easy. It looked easy. But I was never content with the result, so I don't do it very often. But sometimes... Specially after looking on such nice and expressive illustrations by Lovisa Burfitt.

Ginger bakes gingers

When I was young gigerbreads weren't popular in my family, but one winter time I decided to make them and now I always do it before Xmas. Even though it's still not important in my family - this little things which can make it all charming - gingerbreads, beautifully wrapped presents, singing carols, leaving one plate for an unexpected visitor. That's not important. But I still  bake those gingerbreds, even if it goes so spontaniously as yesterday. I printed the first recipe I'd found on the internet, grabbed the ingredients and baked not perfect, not extremely delicious, but...

well, you must know I hate being in the kitchen!

Winter in Russia

I never thought of Russia as the magical or inspiring place. Not even in fashion. Lots of gold, heavy furs and skins, everything too expensive, too much jewellery and makeup or folk, local patterns, Something beetween Dr Zhivago and immoral and cruel atmosphere of richness. But when I look at Ulyana Sergeenko designs I feel only good associations - Tolstoy, Dostoyewski and fifties in Moscow. The cold winter from "Anna Karenina" and summer scents from Czekhov's dacza. The clothes she makes are very feminine, delicate, but sexy. Their are original - modern, but almost overally inspired my vintage fashion, literature and eastern tradition. But it's mostly the tradition of intellectual city families, not the folk motives. I think it's time to reinterprete my opinions about Russia's style, don't you think?

Cosy winter with Ehren&Andrew

Today just two, but beautiful winter fashion pictures. I picked them because there are somehow unique - clear, ascetic but cosy at the same time. It feels like Xmas while looking at them, but as you can see they are not golden-lighten-glitter, like other December fashion shots.  I liked only that two of the session with Ehren Dorsey by Andrew Yee for How to Spend It, other were too masculine, too "Beauty and the Bold", too geometric. But model's look in that session reminded me of few things I like very much recently - Ginnifer Goodwin from "Once upon a time", new Xavier Dolan's film "Laurence Anyways" (mostly those masculine pictures) and Xmas, as I mentioned before. I like Ehren Dorsey - she's original and brave in such short haircut, so powerful and delicate at the same time. And the background - clear and ascetic. No seductive, unnatural poses. That's the key to the success in those photographs.

I'll be back with Adrew Yee, he does great job/art with his photographs.

And Ehren Dorsey for goodbye, in summer light. She's a fascinating model, so unusual.

Moda del sur

It was snowing today in my city, everything started to look so charming and pre-Christmas. That's my favourite part of the year. I hate Christmas itself because it's never been magical or special in my family but looking how world is preparing for that wonderful time is a real pleasure. But today I want to take you away from snow, lights and glittering trees. Just for a moment, before we all go freaked about winter celebrations.
Recently I watched quite dumb film with Eva Longoria. It was called "Without men". The idea for this movie wasn't so stupid, but the plot... no comment. But in spite of that, I really liked the actresses. Well, let's say their talent wasn''t too obvious, but all of them were beautiful and have their own, indyvidual expression. It was inspiring enough to look for some Southern America style ideas. And writing "style" I mean the way of being as much as fashion. Let these colours warm you up and make you forget about winter just for a one more little while!

BLAZE OF COLOURS! CRAZY FOLK DETAILS! JOY, EASINESS, TRADITION, FEMINITY! UNUSUAL.
