Heather's herselves

Self portraits by Heather Hanrahan - some of them could have been published in some style magazine, and some of them are like small, artistic clues which we sometimes find on our way. Clues  that make us wonder about such things as beauty or destination. Do they give answers? I don't think so. I'm not sure how personal those photographic autobiographies are, either. Maybe they are only the artist's creation. Or maybe Heather Hanrahan captured the most intensive emotions which surrounded her from the inside. Whatever we think... these photos are only clues or misleading signs.

I, personally, find in those pictures the duality I see in myself. The spirit of strong, sad woman and the shadow of a gentle princess - or maybe even two princesses: one self-confident, adult, beautiful, and the other a small, lost one, who needs someone to take care of her. And maybe the strong, sad woman is not single also. Plenty of women...plenty. But all of them mostly with herselves...

Sweet the sting

Wind and honey. Bird and being. Chilly summer, the sound of bees, stinging grass. My first thought was Allende's "House of spirits". Of course the photoshots are not so cruel and sad as the book was. But this "sunny fog", indian summer and colours of grasslands make me think about soulful atmosphere of the South America's white people's doubts.

Of course I don't like this skinny model and her photoshoped body, erotic poses and so unnatural face which looks like a vulgarism in that wild scenery. But we can't expect too much from Vogue, can we?

Empty tune, meaningful expression.

I have no opinion about this band's music. There's some emptiness in it. I can define it either. But when I accidentally saw the photo of Catherine Pockson by Ben Toms, I was caught up in a moment. Fascinating face. Then I discovered all pictures of the Alpines are magnetic. Poetry and emotion. Silent scream-that what comes to mind. Static frames with sudden disturbances - wind, move, wave. Covered with meaning, which we have to tell to ourselves.
